EMPOWERING WOMEN TO ADDRESS GENDER BASED VIOLENCE IN BWIRI WARD, BUSIA COUNTY

This is a six-month project under the Haki ni Yetu Project, funded by the European Union. We aim to create awareness on the impacts of gender-based violence, challenge harmful cultural norms that perpetuate the vice, and strengthen community response systems by bringing together duty bearers and all relevant actors for collective action. The project involves a series of sensitization workshops across the four sub-locations of Bwiri Ward — Busijo, Hakati, Namuduru, and Busembe. These workshops will foster dialogue, reflection, and shared responsibility within the community. The project will culminate in a ward-level stakeholder forum to consolidate learning, strengthen collaboration, and reinforce a united community commitment to ending gender-based violence and promoting equality, safety, and dignity for all.
